Doloc Town Guide

Your first days in Doloc Town are about inventory, a rain-proof starter crop, and a farm you can reach when the weather turns — not gene machines. This guide is written from the 1.0 Steam listing plus a full-release tips video (MyrabelsPlays, 6 Aug 2026). Crop prices after patch 1.00.04 are treated as unconfirmed.

Day one: buy the backpack before seeds

You start with 300 G. A mayor quest adds 200 G. Kasia already gave you 10 Endyam seeds, so do not spend that 500 G on more seeds. Take it to Hult at the general store and buy the first backpack upgrade. It doubles your slots. The next backpack tier costs 4,000 G — leave it.

The Steam community guide and the 1.0 video agree on this order: Hult’s pack first, then Merlin’s tools, then Mody’s farm expansion. Pickaxe before other tools, because ore gates better farming gear.

  • Clear scrap, stone and plants near the house for build materials and a first sale.
  • Put a chest next to the house. Same-type pickups auto-sort. Cardboard boxes add 5 slots but lose 1 durability per open.
  • Plant Endyam in planters you can run back to before a storm.
  • Lank’s quest line awards a Storage Shelf (six boxes, no durability drain on the shelf). Dada sometimes sells extra boxes near the plant lab.

Build up, not out

Steam describes a side-scrolling pixel farm where you stack platforms. Ground crops get eaten even when troughs are full — grow food on platforms and leave feed on the ground. Early YouTube advice is to plant trees beside the plot, not on it.

Weather is a system, not flavour. Acid rain hurts unprotected crops and the player. Heat drinks more water. Thunderstorms can feed generators. Plastic film (the game tutorial) or indoor containers keep fragile crops alive. Endyam matures in two days and resists acid rain, which is why it is the starter crop — not Pumpkin or Nightshade from older third-party lists.

Sell, fight, and spend

Activate the cargo pad yourself. The returning plane always pays the highest price. Direct NPC sales undercut (one Chinese cabbage example in the 1.0 video: Villain 130 G vs the fisherman 104 G). Life-tree cooking turns two Endyam into Mixed Endfoods for 110 G versus 80 G raw — cook after you unlock the pot, not on day one.

The default drone auto-fires and is enough for early scavenging. Switch to manual (mouse wheel / R) in a new area so you do not aggro passive slimes. Copper pickaxe and axe (about 5 copper ingots + 1,500 G) matter because a River Valley rock quest needs the copper pick. Then choose between the 5,000 G farm expansion and a Small Container (2,000 G + 10 copper + 50 stone) — you will want both later.

Do not spend tech points on a charcoal kiln. After you deliver to Mira at the Outpost, a free kiln is mailed the next day. A 150 G sleeping bag at Mira’s beats passing out at 2:00.

Leave genes and full tech for later

Steam lists four tech trees and 80 achievements, plus a gene system for 30+ crops. Neoseeker counts 81 techs across Agricultural, Industrial, Life and Animal (Animal unlocks after a Small Barn and Kenenimuu’s tutorial). Do not dump points on day one. Do not chase the Gene Activation Chamber until you have a stable seed loop.

Official regions on the store page: outskirts, River Valley, Wetlands, caves, Old City Ruins. Get home before dark. Core playtime is 30+ hours; extra content 100+ hours.
