Ranching

Doloc Town Animals

Ranching is a 1.0 / late-EA pillar (Thrive & Ties), not a day-one system. The Animal tech tree opens after you build a Small Barn and report in to Kenenimuu. Steam store copy mentions barns, fences, milk and eggs; it does not print a species roster. Official English names stay unmarked until Steam prints them.

How ranching opens

Neoseeker’s tech tree and Japanese quest pages agree: Animal has 18 nodes and stays locked until you build a Small Barn / Small Livestock Shed and finish Kenenimuu’s livestock tutorial. Kenenimuu is described on Japanese pages as a young shaman of a northern grassland tribe in the Doloc mountains. 1.0 patch notes added Animal Feed to Kenenimuu’s shop after the faction settlement, and lowered the chance of animals escaping.

  • Build the small livestock shed.
  • Talk to Kenenimuu — the husbandry tree unlocks and you receive alfalfa / clover seed.
  • Craft a feeding trough, then return for a sack (the bird) and a first-egg hand-in.

Four barn animals (Japanese names)

A Japanese species page and a third-party shop table agree there are four barn animals. Steam never printed official English names, so this page keeps the Japanese names. Third-party English labels (Still-Tail Bird, Stilttail Pheasant, Marsh Beast) disagree with each other and are not used as facts. Alpaca is the one English word players and Steam threads already use.

  • タッパキジ — bird. Third-party shop 800 G. Eggs and feathers.
  • ツノアルパカ — horned alpaca. Third-party shop 3,000 G. Wool. Steam players shear with a sickle.
  • マヌマン — round ungulate. Third-party shop 5,000 G. Milk (bottle) and horns.
  • ハニーチュウ — insect. Third-party shop 1,200 G. Honey / industrial wax on third-party lists.

What they produce

Steam’s official product line is fresh milk and wholesome eggs. Japanese quests and Steam threads also ask for feathers, wool, lanolin, and マヌマン horns. The 1.0 patch reduced the time for “special produces” and raised those sale prices — that is official wording, not a full drop table. A clipper can still yield lanolin in player reports; salt blocks are not required if you pet animals daily (player thread, not a tooltip).

What reviews actually claim

GameGrin: animals ignore acid rain and heat and do not die — that is a reviewer’s observation, not a Steam tooltip. 1.0 only confirms animals can escape (and that the chance was lowered). Keep food crops on platforms; ground plants still get eaten even with full troughs (1.0 video). Shed placement relative to basins is on farm layout.

Fish farming vs ranching

Publisher 1.0 copy lists livestock and fish farming among EA pillars. Neoseeker puts fish tanks and a hatchery on the same Animal tree. This page is the land-barn loop. Do not treat it as a wild bestiary or a full aquarium guide.
